Just when I think Stephen Colbert is dumb, he exceeds my expectations. The funny part about Colbert's interview with Texas Democrat representative candidate, James Talarico, is that CBS lawyers reminded him that he can't give air time to a running candidate without giving equal air time to Jasmine Crockett (who Talarico is running against). But Colbert refused to give an interview with the popular, black woman who is the current incumbent. Let that sink in!

Then went on to blame Trump/FCC even though that is technically a state law(California) not a federal law as far as I know. In the Jay Leno years he had every candidate for California governor in the audience to give them 'equal time' when Arnold Swartzaneger ran for governor.

there are state laws for state election and a FCC rule for broadcast radio and TV, which has been around for decades and to give the same air time to each candidate. Colbert in defiance still held the interview, but only released it on streaming services (not actually TV broadcast) Even Jasmine Crockett responded in a press conference that this was not the Federal gov't doing, it was just CBS and the Colbert show
