For me personally, I think all of the popular music these days is just awful. I have no interest in anyone they got to perform unless it was and older band or artist from the 1980's or earlier.

I know I'm just one guy but there probably are a few others like me. I don't know if that accounts for everyone who dropped off when the halftime show came on.

It could be hardcore football fans just don't care about the halftime show regardless of who's performing.

I think the music of the last 30 years is just some of the most boring and unimaginative caca that there has ever been. And I am pretty sure it happened when record execs started promoting throw away artists. They make as much money as they can off of them and then throw then out the door. And the record industry uses the same 2 songwriters for all of the artists so everyone sounds just like the last person they throw away.

The music industry lost its credibility. While the following isn't a review of the music during the Superbowl, it is of the Grammy's. SuperBowl show was like a TikTok brain rot annoying infected pimple, nothing is memorable.
I would say that I appreciated Charlie Puth's rendition of the National Anthem. The progression of the chords was so beautiful, relaxing, peaceful as well as patriotic and respectful.

We didn't turn the TV on soon enough to hear Puth sing. I did hear an excerpt of it on some news show and what I heard was really good.

I think they need to get Ricky Gervais to host all of the award shows. 😁. Maybe, just maybe he might get through to their over-inflated egos.

Based on the ⬇️ viewership on Superbowl 2026, I hope NFL advertisers and sponsors are taking note of where to advertise next year and where to put their 💰 🤑 💸 money.
Viewers demonstrated to Roger Goodell & Jay Z their decision by proactively choosing a different option, more family-oriented 👍 and country proud 🎖🫡

I have no idea and I didn't think about bots. I wonder if all networks use bots to boost their ratings in hopes of more advertising dollars. Maybe that is why Samba TV's numbers are so much lower than NBC's. Perhaps Samba knows how to discount the bots. Just a guess, I have no idea.

Prior to hearing about Samba's numbers for the Super Bowl I had never heard of Samba. The only one I knew about was Nielsen. I don't know how Samba gets their numbers but apparently they are one of the most accurate because they are what advertisers base how much they are willing to pay for a spot on whatever show.

Well...it is a significant stat that the COUNTERPROGRAMMING group doesn't consider!!!

Yeah pretty cool how these companies give "US" cheap tvs, huh? Free, I dont think so. They want their data.

Samba paid for 1/3 of your new modern TV. They scrape the screen (even admit inputs) with CONTENT RECOGNIZING SOFTWARE. Big brother, opted into with the purchase and recognition of the TERMS OF SERVICES.

Maybe they do screen scrape. I never heard of them doing that before. I now that just about everything that's labeled "smart" just means it spies on you.

Smart TV's even have cameras installed on them. They'll say it is so it can adjust to your lighting but is that all it does?

TVs aren't any more expensive than they've always been, inflation adjusted. They're relatively the same as the old picture tube TVs I grew up watching.

My current TV is the most expensive TV I have ever paid for. It was not cheap by any means.

Yeah, it is like a scrape. The video has hidden encoding outside the viewers portal. Some times the channel will be misaligned and you can actually inspect the stream (not that you would be able to interpret it). That data sream holds the meta data to the prpgram.

I worked for ATT ON their IPTV UVERSE over 12 years ago. THOSE SET TOPS WERE NOTHING MORE THAN data snoops.

ATT's goal was sell data. Hook your SMART REFRIGERATOR to their network. Drive with your cell phone as you pass a supermarket. The supermarket gets a hit (because your phone is known) and queries ATT. ATT THEN send you a push for a MILK COUPON. Consider the coupon payment for your data.

It's really aggravating how we have no privacy anymore.

Like if me or my wife mentions a product either I or she will see an ad for it on Facebook or somewhere else on line.

I sometimes think that my next phone should be a dumb phone and just use it for phone calls. And use a VPN and private mode for anything I do on my computer and the Internet.

Looking back I think I like the days of rotary dial telephones the best...sort of

Yeah..I was the older tip and ring telephone guy...I also knew IP.....the older telephone dudes were like, so much for wire taps!!!!

I remember talking with an engineer in New York in 1998. I asked what he does, and he's said he worked for MCI and was responsible for segmenting blocks to IP addresses based on which cell tower the user was attached to.

Integrating systems was at its infancy. We knew the scale.

And the thing about all of this is that our government is just as bad as many of those businesses. I trust the government less than I trust those businesses. At least I know what those businesses are trying to do. They just want to sell me something. That's mostly just annoying but at worst it opens your personal information up to hackers who buy or steal this data for fraud and other cyber crimes.

Who knows what the government will use that data for. Governments (all governments, not just ours) have a very nasty habit of destroying people's lives for no reason at all. That wasn't the type of government our founding fathers gave us.
