Bert and Ernie Explain Neurodivergence

Bert: I went to the doctor today, he told me I have autism. Ernie (nods): Yeah. Bert: You… you already knew? Ernie: you don’t like surprises, you get upset when plans change, you line up your paper clips by size, and you really, really love pigeons. Bert (frowns): Why didn’t you tell me? Ernie: I thought you already knew. And anyway, what does it matter, Bert? Ernie: What’s the matter, Bert? Bert: What do you think, Ernie? I’ve got autism. Ernie replied: so what? You’re still you. Bert: You don’t understand. They said I’m neurodivergent. Ernie: So what, Bert? I’m that too! Bert: You’re not autistic, Ernie. Ernie: No, but I have ADHD. Bert: You have ADHD, Ernie? Why didn’t you ever tell me? Ernie: Because it doesn’t matter, Bert!
