This is how you know socialism can never work. When the money runs out they demand more money. And when that money runs out they demand more and when that money runs out............ and so on and so on....

Never having enough money to actually provide all of that stuff they promise is just one of a million reasons why socialism absolutely sucks.
The worst part in Mamdani's and Gavin Newsom's case is rich people will always move to avoid getting ripped off and then the collapse happens. They cannot make it illegal to move like a socialist country has always done.
The supporters of socialism never think about doing the math until it is far too late. If the government were to take every last penny from not just the rich but from the entire population, it is still not enough money to fund the government for a full year. Then what happens when the socialists have exhausted their cash cow? That's when the government turns to tyranny to force people to work to generate just barely enough wealth to make sure that only the ruling class have what they want.
