Are you under the impression that there are dues or something for NATO? That there's a pile of money that everyone must contribute to?
The goal is for every country in NATO to spend a certain percentage of their own GDP on their own military. We don't pay for their military. Just our own. We spend more than the military even asks for. Unless, of course, it's to take care of our veterans. That excessive spending actually does increase our national debt. Eisenhower warned us about letting the military industrial complex get out of control.
