Apologies have value and meaning-but not as much meaning as corrective action.

I do agree. Just saying "sorry" and then repeating the bad behavior is not a win.

It is important to be honest in a relationship and if one isn't truly sorry and planning to do better, best not to say, 'sorry' as it wouldn't be genuine.
