After he did it in an attempt to get them to leave him alone, they arrested him and gave him the wrong court date, then went after him for contempt of court and failure to appear. They were shooting at his son when he shot back from their barn where he was trying to tend to their animals. His mother was standing behind a screen door watching as Randy tried to go to the aid of his 14 year old son, and they shot her with a baby in her arms.
