I've heard one of them say "hello" for the first time last month. Been here 25 years. 25 years, and she doesn't even know how to say hello. Hello. Can't say the name of her neighborhood right. Doesn't know the name of the college her daughter is going to or even if it is a college, but that doesn't matter because she doesn't want her to pursue the education that the girl wants to pursue anyways. Doesn't want her and her other daughter to have any friends from other ethnicities. Doesn't want them to do anything outside of their home other than activities at church.
I know of four adult siblings who live together, one of them has a son who is failing in school. They don't know why. I mean, he speaks perfect Spanish. He was born here, and he doesn't speak English though because the family doesn't want him to learn English. But at least he speaks Spanish. Only one of the adults speaks English, his brother and two sisters speak no English whatsoever. They don't want the kid to lose his Spanish by learning English.
What the hell are they doing here? How many decades does it take to not sink in that they're not going to live in Beverly Hills? Did they not notice yet that when they scratch the street, there's no gold underneath the black tar? What are they doing here?
There is absolutely no reason for them to live here. None.
Back in my day, we were the bus boys, we were the dishwashers. Those were our first jobs. Now if Gen XYZ I don't even know what they're called don't want to do that work, that's cool, they don't have to. They can play Xbox in their rooms all day and night and at the age of 35 wonder why their quality of life is never going to match their parents as they've never even had a first job ever.
And people don't have to eat at restaurants. And people don't have to eat fresh produce from supermarkets. And people will get by if the floor in their office building is not freshly mopped and waxed nightly. We don't need these things.
And we don't need them. They don't want their children to lose their culture? Then send them back so they won't lose their culture. Why should these people lose their culture just because we're too lazy to maintain our own?
I'm on the verge of becoming homeless, while Adams was hooking up Venezuelans of all people with apartments and luxury hotel accommodations. Homeless. I'd like to be able to afford an apartment in my hometown again. I would like to. Send them back. Send them all back.
I want to live again.
