Raising the retirement age has always been their solution for everything. That way they don't have to address fraud and they protect their "revenue streams". Get rid of fraud and SS is solvent, but they won't do that, they'd have no straw men to campaign against.

Very true, it's been a Ponzi scheme from the beginning. A number of plans have been put forward and rejected over the years that would have kept it solvent until it could be transitioned to a genuine retirement supplement program for those in it and phased out to a better program for those feeding into the scheme. They never intended for it to work, and still don't. As Boomers die off, their pandering will buy fewer and fewer votes and they'll leverage it to collapse the entire system. Cloward and Pivens on steroids.
