Correct, but I’m a Libertarian, so to me the government has a monopoly on supposedly legal violence. The government does things that normal citizens would be arrested for doing. Anytime the government forces someone to do something against their will it either includes violence or the threat of violence.

Are you saying incarceration is an act of violence ? Is putting a three year-old in timeout an act of violence? I can defend myself with deadly force and not be arrested in my state. So no, the state does not have a monopoly on legal violence.

You can in my state too, but the state passed a law to allow it, giving you permission. You should just be able to. I think that’s a right. A law shouldn’t have to be passed to make it legal.
