right? I think he knows he's not smart or capable, and that his wealth shields him from the consequences of being a f**king idiot. Not like Deep Down, I mean, it's a constant state of knowledge for him and everything he does is an attempt to prove that absolute certainly wrong.

I think it's the opposite. I think he's convinced that he's the smartest and best at everything, because that's how narcissists see themselves.

His constant self-aggrandizing and need to try to convince everybody how fabulous he is speaks of someone with deep-seated insecurities, something reinforced by his experience with his family growing up and later rejection by New York society. Up until a decade ago, the guy had been nothing but a perpetual joke to everybody.

He finally found a crowd that would accept him and cheer for him, but no matter how much his handlers try to shield him, his an inadequacies still glare at him.
