Good one, parents shouldn't worry about their children liking them, the goal should be raising them well enough that they will always love them.

Yes, when your kid acts up and starts throwing and breaking things at Walmart, you need to step in and stop your kid from doing that!

Something tells me that you have witnessed someone's brat acting out.

I have had talks with parents who tried the "my child would never" excuse. I always responded with a simple comment, if you paid more attention to (childs name) you would know them better.

I haven't witnessed someone's brat acting out in person (thankfully) but I have seen YouTube videos of multiple brats acting out.

Clueless parents who frequently say "my child would never' are bad, but parents who know what terrible, rotten things their kids have done and then try to defend or rationalize or minimize those things are even worse.

I agree with you. I recently talked with a friend who is in law enforcement and asked him about children acting out. He told me about a mother that was called in after her child was caught stealing. According to him she was angry at them, not the child and she let them know about it. When I asked what he did he told me he looked at them both and told them every day he takes children just like him to jail. He told her if you do not teach him some self-restraint and discipline he will learn it in prison, if he lives long enough to get there.

Most of the children out this far are good kids but some have parents that will buy them a quad and tell them it is ok to ride it on other people's property and when you call the parents, they will say things like they are just kids and have to ride it somewhere. IMHO those types of parents are abusive and will soon learn the hard way that once your children hate you, for your lack of boundaries there is a very small chance of ever gaining their respect. Spoil the rod, spoil the child.

As far as parents who say "my child would never", that belief will probably be shattered when they see photos and/or videos of their kid behaving badly. Seeing is believing, and usually the best/only way to get people to believe sometimes.

At least that little thief got caught. Many store chains let the customers steal and do nothing about it. In fact, employees of those store chains who attempt to confront/stop shoplifters get fired for doing so.

Parents should teach their kids self-restraint and discipline so we don't have to waste taxpayer dollars teaching it in prison. It costs between $20,000 and $100,000 per year to keep someone behind bars, depending on the state.

Bad children grow up to be bad adults. Bad adults grow up to vote democrat and to hate their parents. Bad parents raise bad children. It is the democrat circle or life.
