Hard to swallow

In capitalism, wages aren't primarily based on how hard someone works (effort or hours), but on the value their work creates for the employer. A factory worker might labor intensely but in a replaceable role with limited impact on overall revenue, while a CEO's decisions can scale profits or losses across thousands of employees and millions in assets, justifying higher pay under market forces.

These are hard concepts for some people, and an even more difficult concept for a politician to campaign on.

"Eat the rich!" is a lot easier to shout into a mic as a cheer line at a rally.

So then why is their a minimum wage, and labor laws in a capitalist society? Our government could cap the amount earned by ceos

For the same reasons 50% of small businesses go under in just five years and 80% of Americans are in debt. The vast majority of people are simply bad at managing things.
