Re: Remigration
This may sound questionable, but we spend so much money and put so much effort into preserving anything from cultural and archaeological sites to varieties of tigers, so why not people?
Granted, here in America, that would entail getting rid of 99% of the population. But back where people came from, should we let them disappear? Look what's happening here, in a century will there be anybody that even looks like a Native American (other than Mexicans, etc)? Australia, with one of the most unique people on Earth, Aboriginals will be blended out of existence also.
European Far Reich are a scary bunch, but then when you see that most of the people immigrating there are not poor families, they're at least well off enough to pay for thousands to get there. And most of them being young man in their twenties, they have no problem leaving their supposedly imperiled families behind.
You have to wonder how dedicated they are going to be to the people in their new homes. The fact is, they are not. Same with the immigrants here, if they can afford to get here, they are not starving to death. When was the last time anybody saw a picture of anybody South of the Border all the way down to Tierra del Fuego starving?
Both my parents were not born here, and I can never figure out why they and the rest of their families came here, other than greed. My father in particular, he never said one good thing about America but had lots of bad to say about it. I have no idea why he's here. He was miserable, and he made damn sure that I was even more miserable than him. There was absolutely no reason for him and the rest of his family to come here. Ok, maybe three of them liked it hear and an effort to adapt, but the rest? Not at all.
And the funny thing is, if they stayed home, they would have been happier with the rest of their people, immersed in their culture, and with a higher standard of living. They were not poor at all to begin with, except when he was a kid during World War II. Granted, years later the country changed for the worse, but all except one family came long before that happened. So it wasn't like they were escaping that. They just came here out of greed when they would have been better off staying home, till things went bad.
And that's the other thing, those who might be more able or willing to change things for the better in their homeland are the ones ditching it and leaving the truly needy behind.
