There are, within, the Grand canyon, areas where there are multiple layers of folded rock. Tests show that the layers, supposedly laid down over millions of years, show no evidence of breaking as they folded or of being heated as they folded. This shows that they must have been soft. We see the same evidence of a canyon being carved out quickly after Mt St Helens blew it's top in the 80's.
