I don’t think anyone should be allowed to contribute to a candidate who cannot actually vote for the candidate. No companies, no outside donors, only individual citizens in the politician’s district.

Then a lot of major politicians would be underfunded.

Only Canadian commercial fishermen can harvest walleye fish from Lake Michigan. They sell it back to Michigan markets for $8/pound. American commercial fishermen are not allowed to catch Walleye. But Michigan taxpayers have to pay $1.5 million in tax dollars to restock the Walleye that they’re not allowed to catch, and it benefits Canada.

ID for voting doesn’t just mean a Costco membership or a drivers license it’s a TON of papers like a TON. Most places I’ve seen ask for names or a drivers license.

So there are down sides but obvious benefits but trust me. Illegal immigrants didn’t just come out for Biden election vote and then not vote in the next one.
