A Tale of Two Americas

The founding fathers knew from history that democracy is a stepping stone to a totalitarianism form of government. That is why the system of government they put in place, Constitutional Republic was called the great or grand experiment. Humanity clearly isn't able to govern it's own "moral" choices. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Our specific constitution placed limits three very specific branches. Those branches were to all serve the Constitution then the majority. Our Congress, by not funding the workings of the government is absolutely not doing its job. All the Republicans vote for funding it, most of the Democrats are not. This is solely their shutdown because of that. Trump has been working non stop to remove the unelected bureaucrats which are free to act outside the conversation and therefore don't belong in our government. The Democrats are saying "we know this is hurting people but this is all the power we have".

I was arguing with a socialist online who actually admitted that he knew nobody would share all of their wealth and that his utopian vision was likely unrealistic, yet he still wants socialism. It's full-on delusion now!

It's delusion to want something but realize you can't have it? No

No. It's delusion to understand something that's impossible to achieve and then still vote for it anyways. It's insanity to do the same thing repeatedly and expect different results.

The U.S. was founded as a republic, not a democracy. Check out the U.S. Constitution, which establishes a representative republic, not a direct democracy.
