Sorry Charles, I’ll give you a more thoughtful reply once I’m done libbing out super hard over here — lighting my socialist candles and whispering “infrastructure” over avocado toast.
But before you spiral too hard — you don’t have to panic. Republicans still run Congress right now. They control both the House and the Senate. Committee chairmanships, subpoena power, the ability to block legislation — all in GOP hands. So no, this isn’t some leftist authoritarian takeover. If anything, I might have to update the meme so the strings are red, not blue.
Now, about those specific claims you brought up:
On the “Ministry of Truth” — what you’re talking about was the Disinformation Governance Board at DHS in 2022. It wasn’t some Orwellian censorship squad spying on people or doxxing conservatives. Its stated purpose was coordinating how DHS deals with foreign disinformation, like cartels lying to migrants or Russian propaganda campaigns. It never actually operated. After backlash, it was paused and fully dissolved in August 2022. There is no government-run Ministry of Truth right now.
Onto the “20 million unvetted illegals” idea. There’s no official source for that number. Customs and Border Protection reports millions of encounters at the border each year, but an encounter doesn’t mean someone got in and stayed. Many were expelled or turned around. The total number of undocumented people in the U.S., according to Pew and DHS estimates, is around 14 million total — not 20 million new under Biden. And border surges also happened under Trump in 2019, before COVID shook everything up.
And the military vaccine thing — yes, the Pentagon required service members to get the COVID vaccine starting August 2021. The military already requires tons of vaccines for readiness — anthrax, MMR, polio, hepatitis, etc. Pfizer’s vaccine was fully FDA-approved when most separations happened. Around 8,000 service members were discharged for refusing it. In 2023, Congress (both parties) forced the mandate to be lifted under the NDAA, and it was rescinded. Some service members have since been allowed to apply for reinstatement. So yes, people were discharged — but the vaccine wasn’t some experimental secret serum, and the mandate is no longer in effect.
So yeah — politics isn’t a perfect puppet show and it isn’t only one side pulling the strings. It’s chaotic, bureaucratic and full of people who love outrage more than facts. Which is why memes get under people’s skin — they’re meta
