Everything: DOGE, ICE, pointless renovations to the White House, random name changes: The fact is, he's spending about 2 billion more per day than the Biden administration did. Even the shutdown will end up costing us extra, when the administration has to make whole all the furloughed employees and fix the things that broke due to the shutdown, not to mention the hiring and training costs for government employees who left. . . . . And every time he pushes through a semi- or flat out unconstitutional executive order, WE pay the bills for the inevitable (and justified) law suits.

After a furlough, the government has to pay the employees who worked without pay, and also compensate some of the lost pay for furloughed employees.

Tl/dr: shutdown, then restart is a LOT more expensive than keeping the government running.

Believe me, it costs more to do it this way. And for every worker who leaves and has to be replaced (heyyy, CDC rehirings!) there's a significant increased cost. Successful business leaders (sorry, BankrupTrump, not you!) understand this and avoid excess turnover.
