This, of course, is why the leftists in control of the U.S. public school 'educational' system are very -- um -- selective in what parts of history they teach and how they 'interpret' that history. Were it otherwise then the majority of today's Dem Party voters would not be socialists. Upvoted.
Ditto. Although in my case the turning point happened in 2008 when as a Democrat I was voting for Hillary Clinton as president -- back when an argument could still be made that she wasn't nearly as bad as the Right portrayed her -- and got called 'racist' by my fellow Dems for NOT endorsing a first term U.S. Senator with a melodious speaking voice and chic skin tone who had ZERO meaningful national level experience and no history of leadership or management.
The history of Socialism/Communism/Marxism/Collectivism is very clear. It was tried in many different ways and with many different cultures. It is a socio-economic system that does not work. It is always an economic and humanitarian disaster. I thought after the fall of the USSR, there would be no more debate. Boy, was I wrong.
Soviet Socialism is slavery and murder. Socialism's biggest flaw is that a human has to run it, and humans suck at running things. So don't generalize a form of government because of, granted, a few bad apples.
