"Gerrymandering" was started in 1812 by Elbridge Gerry, hence the name. He was the Governor of Massachusetts who signed the state redistricting bill approving oddly shaped districts to favor the Democrat party, which he became famous for. Later, he became James Madison's Vice President. And of course, Elbridge Gerry was a Democrat!

Absolutely! And who has carried out the most gerrymandering since? The Republican party. And who directly ordered districts to be redrawn in order to provide the Republican party new seats? Trump, the Republican president. He started this fight.
