I'm sorry you feel the new updates detract from your experience. Can you please say more about what is bothering you? We welcome feedback as we continue to improve Imgflip.

Thanks for asking. I’ve made other memes addressing individual updates, & how they impact users. Nobody ever asked about those, so, I just made a general one.
I’ll give you 2 specific examples:
1. The latest update brings back the popup ads. Ads take away part of my screen.
Besides being irritating, the ads get in the way of my input area. They distract, & can cause a disaster. I have lost custom-made template memes, when accidentally clicking on an ad that —out of nowhere— popped up right in the area I was clicking. Click… zappp, into the advertisers link. Trying to back out of that, or close that, & get back to my incomplete meme… by the time I found my way back to my meme — poof! It was gone. Lost work. Lost time. That happened more than once. Not with this latest update (yet). But, seeing the ads come back AGAIN, gives me a bad taste.
2. My MAIN complaint about updates, is about the one which SIGNS ME OUT, of IMGFLIP, if I jump to another app momentarily. Then, I LOSE MY FONTS.
—I use many different FONTS— ***Is it possible to allow users to set up their own list of fonts, on their homepage?***
When I first login, I search through the 3 large files of fonts, & choose the ones I'm going to use. As long as I remain logged in, those selected fonts remain at the top of my lineup of fonts. I can use those fonts again, without having to search for them each time. As soon as I logout (or am force-logged-out), my selected favorite fonts are gone. I’ll have to search through the 3 large files, again, to find & select again.
Prior to the update, I could logon, search & select my fonts, & they would remain in my lineup all day. I would remain logged in, until I purposely logged off. I could remain logged in for the whole day —sometimes even through the next day— even when switching to other apps.
Now, when bouncing temporarily over to a different app, IMG automatically logs me out. All of my chosen fonts are gone, until I search & select again.
I rarely use the standard IMG fonts offered on the home-screen. Most of my memes use other fonts (unless I don’t feel like doing the mindless hunt through the font files again).
That was an update to improve something (?) that really detracted from my IMGFLIP experience.

If the reason to auto-logoff was to benefit the operation of IMG… that’s understandable. Just allow a full time custom file.
Thanks for asking, & sorry for writing a book to explain. Just trying to make it clear.
Regards, neverWoke

Thanks for the reply. Pop-up ads definitely shouldn't be happening--can you name the ad/company so we can report it to our ad provider?
Regarding the auto-log out issue, thank you for reporting. I don't think this is intentional on our end but I will check. Is this happening in the mobile app specifically, or on a web browser? Could it be that your browser updated settings and defaulted to automatically log-out? Might be worth checking, that sounds annoying.

Thank you for your concern, & advice.

I use an iPhone 11, with Safari, to open IMGFLIP.com

As of yesterday, the popups were about 1 inch high, across the bottom of the screen. Today, I have not seen them. You guys have some pull!

I will try to find out if the logout problem is on my end. I had not considered that, thinking it was just an annoying update.

Thanks again for your interest. 🙏

Thanks for sharing detailed feedback, this is helpful.

The "recent fonts" feature uses your web browser's local storage, so the only reason that would get deleted is if you or your browser choose to destroy your local storage for the Imgflip website. Did you recently enable a more aggressive privacy setting, or storage-saving setting? Or frequently clear your cookies/browsing data?

I would guess that the local storage being cleared is the same issue as you being logged out, because login uses a regular session cookie which would also be cleared if you or your browser choose to "clear all browsing data" for imgflip.com.

Or maybe Apple introduced another "privacy" or "battery" feature which started breaking websites ^^
