Fortunately since the Biden insanity was rejected we still have freedom of speech in this nation . . . in Britain . . . not so much. SO there the Islamic mayor can accuse anyone of anything and get that person put into prison. In the United States people just assess what it happening in Britain and say . . . "Yeah Trump is obviously correct."

True, the Brits can only blame themselves.

Blindly trusting your party's leadership to make all decisions for you, is never good. This is why leftism ALWAYS leads to some form of repressive authoritarianism regardless of the Utopia their leaders promise their Useful Idiot followers. With conservatism that does not happen because we NEVER fully trust our own leadership; and plus we actually study and absorb the true lessons of history.

You never fully trust your leadership??

Wait, wut??

Okay, no further questions, your honor. 🤣😂😂

Brits can go to prison based on a simple accusation from the "Islamic" mayor of London?

🤣

Yes, the UK is now an Islamic caliphate. Allahu akbar.

Oh my days, you yanks make me laugh so much lol. Please keep it up. 🤣

If a British citizen says something bad about Islam then he or she is going to jail.

I notice that this one has ignored all U.S. reports of what's happening in Britain in favor of blindly gulping down the CONTROLLED 'news' of the British press instead -- which is a really good way to stay out of prison over there. Anyway he or she has finally inspired me to engage a block . . . and so that's good.

It is interesting how quickly the trolls jumped in to defend the goat lovers.

The hard truth is most Americans either do not know how bad things are in Europe especially the UK or do not care. I always looked at the UK and Australia as test markets, any scam the UN tries is tested there before being pushed on us here. The hard truth is islam is a cancer, it destroys through terror, mass migrations and inbreeding. We may be among the last people allowed to say it but islam should be banned. When I was in uniform, I protected muslims, fought alongside of them and hunted them. I have nothing good to say about islam.

Yes, I agree. The religion and its followers are fundamentally opposed to traditional western values. Sharia law is evil. That aside, yes; until Trump set their play book on fire inside the U.S. the U.K. and Europe were test templates for U.S. leftists; simply running about five years ahead of what they could get away with duplicating into law inside the United States.

The elites inside and outside of the USA do not understand what they could be called the common man. We refuse to bow to anyone. The right is all about accountability and the left uses cancel culture to do the same thing, it's not as effective but it does catch a few dirtbags on occasion. The UK, EU and the rest of so-called 1st world nations is in serious trouble. Trump can't save them, but he did toss them a lifeline. We will see if they grab it.
3 ups, 2d
"There's a lifeline!" their intellectuals will shriek in horror. "Quick! Set it on fire!"

I could care less about what you think. If you don't like my memes make your own and go on about your day.

Anyone in uniform that has deployed can tell you that muslim men abuse goats. Since they hide the faces of their women it may be as simple as the goats look better but I don't care to find out.
0 ups, 2d
Okay, but if you make a point about something/someone and then retreat by saying you don't care about the other person's opinions, it doesn't really lend itself to meaningful discourse.

Some Muslim men (or men from Muslim backgrounds) may well abuse goats. That doesn't necessarily make it a widespread practice condoned across the entire Islamic world and if I'm not mistaken I'm fairly confident it goes against their religion anyway. The fact that you witnessed some men in Afghanistan or wherever you were deployed engaging in such acts (I'm not going to automatically disbelieve your accounts btw – I'll take your word for it) does not automatically apply to billions of people.

So you could be a bit more precise with your language is all I'm saying. Some non-Muslims in Western and other countries also abuse animals in similar ways.

And I'm not here simply to shit on your memes. Just challenge points we disagree on. (And, okay, maybe have a bit of fun by winding people up too tbf. 🤔😇)

Name me one example of where a British citizen has actually gone to jail for saying "something bad about Islam".

If there actually is one, then I'll be genuinely interested and revise my opinions. Honestly.

I'm genuinely curious. I could be wrong, after all. Maybe you're right and I'm just not aware of it. Who knows? And I'll concede the point and buy you a beer or something.

So... do I owe you a beer or not? Actually curious.

That was not what the meme is about, but the Muslims do own the UK.

The London Times recently reported that “British police arrest more than 30 people a day for online posts”. London’s Met Police, who have been at the center of some of the worst speech abuses, maintain a secretive operation monitoring social media leading to almost immediate arrests. The Met Police arrested a staggering 5,332 people in 9 years for speech and 1,700 speech arrests in 2023 alone making London into its own speech gulag.

I notice that your informed reply has been utterly ignored by the ideologically indoctrinated -- and thus GOOD citizen -- foreign visitor to Imgflip. Still it must occasionally feel oppressive to know that you can go to prison for simply posting things that the random U.S. citizen can get away with doing.

Time difference, the muslims will return, lie about being muslims and everything else they can lie about. Unlike us they use paid trolls, AI to target and direct their BS.

Assuming that every single user on a site who does not go along with your particular narrative about Islam and Muslims must automatically *be* a Muslim themselves (and be lying about not being one whenever confronted) is a pretty weird (and, frankly, quite childish) position to take. And if we actually got paid to troll, believe me, I would be doing that already. 🤣

Anyone who criticizes Trump must be a "Communist", right? You're a witch until proven otherwise, right? But all witches lie, so if you say you're not a witch, that proves you're a witch. 🤔

Aww you got triggered. Lying is as much a part of islam as rape. Two things you can never do: convince me that islam has merit and convince me to stop exposing it. I have had enough deployments to be completely aware of what islam is and is not.
0 ups, 2d
What makes you think I was triggered by anything? I'm not a total snowflake lol. It's just a bit tiresome (and a bit weird tbh) to be repeatedly accused of believing something you don't; that's all.

If you want to criticize Islam, you're free to do that. No ideology should be beyond critique. But at least please don't assume anyone who ever counters some of those arguments practices the religion. If I counter an anti-Judaism or anti-Jewish talking point does that automatically make me Jewish? If I counter a racial argument against a particular group, does that mean my skin colour or ethnicity has now changed and I can't convince anyone otherwise? Would I be lying about that too? If I defend a political position, am I automatically a Trump or Harris voter? 🤔

I'm not exactly an apologist for Islam. I have my fair share of criticisms too btw. I just don't like seeing misinformation or sweeping generalizations that often border on prejudice.

In what ways do Muslims (who make up about 6% of the population) "own" the UK?

The 30 arrests a day thing might be true (I think your other figures are a bit off though). But not all of them were convicted. And they weren't all just for "saying something bad about Islam".

There are actually plenty of people even on the political left who are concerned about the possible erosion of freedom of speech in the UK and other European countries and government/police powers becoming too overarching, and it may be a very valid concern. So I would agree to some extent on that point.

But people aren't all being locked up just for "criticizing Islam" (which I have done myself even though people here insist on accusing everyone of secretly being a Muslim and lying about it). If you look into the cases, there's almost always something else going on, like incitement to violence, harassment or actual physical threats or extreme abusive language directed at people and so on. And not all those cases relate specifically to Islam/Muslims. They cover all kinds of things.

Even if I got your faith wrong or maybe you don't have one, the meme is about the mayor's failures not about islam. My low opinion of islam had zero to do with the meme, we went down an islam bunny trail. I have nothing good to say about islam but I don't make memes just to insult muslims.

As far as the UK and its censorship the numbers came from the British press. I consider censorship as a form of hate speech and a tool of socialists and power happy tyrants.

In general, I see the left globally struggling with problems they created by caving to whichever groups are the most violent, loudest or that bribe them. It would take way too long to discuss each group, each country, each leader, each reason and all the other things that influence global politics. Let's stick to one topic at a time.

Yes, I don't follow any religion and don't believe in any supernatural deity, or New Age stuff, or mystical forces or whatever. I'm a skeptic.

(Having said that, whether there is something we don't yet/can never comprehend that is "behind" Reality, I couldn't say. Human life is extremely short and the Universe is extremely old and big, so there's not much time to find answers and we're constantly revising our beliefs.

Maybe I'll have a deathbed conversion or Damascene epiphany before I die, or take some mind-altering substance or have a near-death experience that completely changes my mind about the nature of existence. I haven't lived 1 million years and can only speak from the perspective of my very limited individual human experience. I haven't lived 9 billion lives.

But I don't personally currently believe all those answers are to be found in the world's major religions. (Although there's plenty of teachings that do make a lot of sense and I think there is a lot of truth and wisdom to be found in amongst all the stuff I don't find convincing. I just can't bring myself to accept any of them wholesale or their bolder claims about Ultimate Reality.)

And fair point: your meme didn't explicitly mention Khan's faith. But the comments did, and I was mainly responding to those. I don't think either Khan's personal faith or lack thereof is particularly relevant to a lot of the criticism levelled against him.

If you think he's unfit to be Mayor, or incompetent, or you disagree with his policies, then by all means feel free to criticize him for that.

The issue is that it's very common to invoke his faith and imply a wider narrative based on that. You may not personally be intending that, but it seems evident that a lot of others do.

And I may well actually agree with you more than you realize on topics of freedom of expression and the problems the political left have got themselves in to. People on all sides of the spectrum have raised concerns about freedoms.

Fair points, we may have a lot more in common than not. It is fairly common for the topic of the meme and the comments to take different directions, it's frustrating but understandable.

My time in the military convinced me that a higher power is real, but I have not worked out the why me of it. A single word whispered in my ear saved my life, no one was close, and I remember looking around to see who was talking, no one was there. My oh crap moment was real, the event happened, I can't prove the warning, but I know what I heard, and the timing was perfection.

I am convinced I was meant to survive and confused as to why not everyone, what made me special? Somethings we are just not meant to know, as you pointed out we don't have a lot of time to work out everything.

Back to the mayor and my memes in general. I get up watch the news while I cook my breakfast and make a meme on whatever catches my ear and eye. My President taking the time to single out a mayor, any mayor was reason enough for me. The man's religion no doubt plays a role in his leadership even if just to adjust his left and right limits. What the meme was meant to convey was it was very arrogant of Khan to think his opinion of the most powerful man on the planet would not only get back to him but that he would care.

My arrogance is also questionable, I make memes because I enjoy it, the people who agree and disagree are not going to harm me in anyway, but it is always more pleasant when they use praise over insults. Trust me when I say some do take them way too far. The insults have led to threats and my responses have gotten me a few time outs, the imgflip mods are not always fair when they dole out punishments, I think there should be a method where you can explain your responses, but I don't make the rules.

This thread has gone on way to long and I have work to do, so I may not check back in, but thanks for stopping by, I think I have a better understanding of your perspectives. Have a great day.

🙏 Cheers, pal. You too.

And interesting story too. "Somethings we are just not meant to know". Yep.
1 up, 15h
Oh and "the imgflip mods are not always fair when they dole out punishments". For real lol.

One of life's other great mysteries. Why are we here? Is there a "God" (and what does that even mean?)? Where does the Universe come from? Was there anything "before" that? What is the meaning of my existence? Why is there so much suffering in nature? Why does anything exist at all? What even is consciousness? Are we living in a simulation (and, if so, who or what created that?)? Why did I survive but the others didn't? Will humanity ever come up with a socioeconomic system that actually works for everyone, and wars and conflict will cease? What should I do with my one short life? Are soulmates real and will I ever meet mine? Where DO socks go in the wash? And how does the moderation actually work on the Imgflip politics stream? 🤔🤣

There may be some things us mortals are just never allowed to know...
