There are tiny little chips inside them that produce a high frequency that disorients the brain, this is altered to show you exactly what the creator of the chip wants you to see, creating the illusion of the Nightmare animatronic on top of an endoskeleton, however the endo skeleton is still powerful enough to kill, and the illusion can trick your brain into thinking you have died, shutting down the body. One very important detail, is that this frequency is extremely disorienting, making those who hear it extremely nauseous and sick, the only exceptions being select members of the Afton family. Inky would hear the frequency, be unable to focus and control herself, and killed by the illusion or the actual animatronic.
