When self driving software was tested in Australia, it had trouble determining the distance to kangaroos. Several kangaroos were hit without the car braking. Every time the kangaroo hopped up in the air, the software thought it was farther away. Software was finally adjusted to identify kangaroos and properly calculate the distance.
