Also, Leviticus 18:22 (“You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination”) is often cited to condemn homosexuality, but this reflects selective interpretation. The verse is part of ancient Jewish purity laws, many of which (e.g., banning shellfish, mixed fabrics, tattoos) are ignored by modern Christians. Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, instead emphasizing love, mercy, and not judging others. Using Leviticus to attack LGBTQ+ people while dismissing the rest of the law is inconsistent and weaponizes scripture for political purposes rather than reflecting its broader theological context or Christ’s message of compassion and humility.
