So a hospital cannot refuse care, but when someone in labor is a illegal immigrant in the emergency room receives care, we have a dilemma. A social worker helps get the illegal patient services. Weather or not the illegal mother receives Medicaid is beyond the issue, it's the newborn that will automatically qualify for Medicaid if parents resources qualify the child. Regardless of who pays the hospital bill, we have illegal naturally born citizens gaining access to Medicaid all the time through this scenario.

The child in that scenario, in my opinion - is a citizen. The child's birth certificate is clearly United States based, a social security number gets assigned. That's how it's written now.

If folks don't want illegal migrant's children to be citizens - the law needs rewritten. There could be a General Certificate of Birth - issued to children whose parents are illegal immigrants, that gets certified & changed ownership to the country the parents are from.

It's definitely a poorly written law - which is why those kids are citizens upon birth.

It would be cruel for the government to force women who are immigrants legally or illegally on birth control. Or even forced termination. If they found a illegal woman who applied for Medicade or through medical services pregnant I guess they could try to deport her before she gives labor. But that would be very cruel policy. I stand on capping the quota for immigration. We have so many immigrants that it's almost to the point of foreign invasion. When someone from a foreign nation drives a brand new car, and lives in a new house or apartment and can afford to live like that above the US citizen, it makes a person wonder how they can afford it all.

Depends... Did they make the trek while pregnant to illegally enter, or did they get pregnant here in the United States. If they made the journey while pregnant - there's no cruelty in them making a journey back while pregnant.

If the pregnancy occurred here in the U.S. after they already are here... It's slightly cruel because they aren't used to travel while being pregnant. But if we can get 350-400 lbs people with onset diabetes on a plane - we can get pregnant people on a plane too.
