Fair point, but if you look at the trend of New Yorkers voting red in the last decade, it's far from impossible that Sliwa could pull off an upset.

Oh, I hope it happens. I live in California and have seen the result of radical leftist commie Mayors control. Even though there were more Republicans in California than in Texas, there weren’t enough for LA to choose sanity.

I honestly believe there is a correlation between population density and political insanity. It just seems to me that the more people per square mile, the more batshit crazy they are.

Certainly there is some correlation. Whenever a bunch of people vote for free chit it attracts more freeloaders who come and vote for more free chit and the cycle never ends so they have to create crises that need funding because they can’t afford all the free chit. Then they skim the funding and the crises are never solved. Then you go back and promise more free chit and the free chit society says yes that’s our candidate. The one promising the most free chit.

I don't disagree with you, But I think it's even more primal than that. As if there were a phenomenon you might call "ochlophrenia", where basically being in a large crowd of people directly inhibits one's ability think or act rationally, and the effect is cumulative over time.

Definitions sort of “mob mentality”. The Romans had it in Rome. The politicians feared the mobs so the mobs controlled the capitol.
