The radical Islamists running Iran have been at war against the USA since 1979 when they stormed the US embassy in Tehran and took 28 US citizens hostage for 444 days. They are responsible for several other attacks on US service men and embassies. It’s not a new war.

What Trump did was a military strike against a specific military asset. Every president has done that.

Besides, it really doesn't count as a "war" unless troops are deployed. This doesn't even rise to the level of the 1983 Grenada incident, which is barely considered to be a war by any measurable standard.

Anyone remember "Operation Southern Watch" or "Operation Desert Strike"? Bill Clinton just loved chucking Tomahawk missiles at Iraq like lawn darts back in the 90's. "Operation Midnight Hammer" was basically the same kind of thing.
