Yup if you are surrounded by a mob banging on your car, accelerate they will stop. Mass arrests with stiff sentences for people who obstruct highways and streets infringing on the the public’s rights.

That's also called Assault with a Deadly Weapon Vehicular, perhaps hit-and-run, to boot.

Not in some states, it is not.

That would be the difference between "THE LAW" (in this case the common law duty to avoid harming others, whether through negligence, or intent) and "rulemaking".

Even in Florida, I'm pretty sure you have to be responding to a legitimate fear for your life. People blocking the road because there's a march in the street in front of you, cannot be attacked, except in a case of legitimate self-defense - even if the presence of marchers in the street or highway lacks a permit, or is in other ways illegal.

That's my analysis and understanding. Cars have brakes and steering wheels for good reason. If the path you chose is blocked, in almost every circumstance you can find another. If a telephone pole or a tree or rock is blocking the road - you don't try to run it over, do you? If there's no way to reverse course, or go around, you need to summon "the authorities", and have them clear it.

Ok. But you can't can't incite peaceful protestors in the street to violence, and then claim that they're a "violent mob". And in nearly every incident of this sort, that I've seen - there were plenty of people who were safely sitting in their cars, without fear. And then there's someone who approaches 'looking for a fight', shouting "fighting words", who then seizes upon an opportunity to run people over with a car. If you can't open fire on a crowd with a firearm, you can't drive through it, either.

I saw an incident in Riverside where they attacked someone's car. He was standing at a red light.
Needless to say, I think they were justified in their panic to escape the situation. Anyone who saw what the mob did to innocent people during the 92 LA riots knows this.

92 was a good example of legitimate fear for one's life those uprisings could legitimately be classified as "Riot"... But the BLM Marches weren't, at least not while they were using the nonviolent tactics, stressed by their organizers.

I'd want to see the totality of the circumstances in Riverside.

I'm aware of several instances when what were apparently Trump supporters, just tried to run over a crowd that was in the street. There were several instances like that here in LA, and some others in the Pacific NW. As recently as last Sunday, someone tried doing that at a "No Kings" protest - where no other violence was reported. https://www.rt.com/news/619340-shooting-anti-trump-rally/

How do you know they were Trump supporters? Did they have a mags flag on their car? I live here and remember one minor incident on recent violent protests.

I'd kinda like to hear the backstory on that, from both sides, and whoever was present, including the filmer.

It's possible that guy is on the phone to 911.
