The "Left" and "Right" have arguably shifted the goalposts a lot in recent times, and a lot has become polarized. What was once considered fairly centrist and unremarkable has now become "rightwing", and possibly vice versa (?).

Are you an ex-Democrat/"leftie" who finally got disillusioned by how far they shifted? I think a lot of people are disillusioned by how polarized it's become. Where would you be in an ideal world, or where would you like them to be?

Spocks statement was not political. It was a statement based on voluntary sacrifice for the many, not forceful like communism.

You're right on that, btw. Spock wasn't exactly calling for a socialist utopia; more utilitarian than anything. Vulcans are very logical.
