Political concepts I never understood as a kid and why
Free markets: I always thought the world should have been planned out to make sure people get help and that there is no bad things in our food
Individualism: Even as a young girl the way my school ran raised me on the idea that everyone has a responsibility to help each other. So maybe my school's culture did influence me
Free markets allow people to decide what they need and ensure everyone doesn’t have to go to one person to get it. It allows for greater negotiation in prices and it more easily adapts to changes in needs based on things out of our control. Also, no exchanges will take place unless both sides feel they benefit from it. For instance I believe a hundred dollars worth of ammunition is more valuable to me than a hundred dollars worth of currency or a hundred dollars worth of books, and in a free market I can get those. The seller has no use for the ammunition but does for currency, so he takes it to exchange for something else he prefers on the market. In a planned economy failure always results because nobody can possibly take into account everything that may affect those needs.
Since communities are made up of individuals, the needs and rights of the individual come before the community. You can’t claim to support the community needs and rights unless you support the right of the individual. If someone in a community can lose his rights “for the greater good of the community” what is to stop the community from taking other rights? Adolf Hitler thought as you do.
What is freedom to you? For me, freedom is the ability to eat healthy, non toxic food, get good healthcare, walk in a clean area with clean air to reduce my chances of diseases, and to get a good education. All those things should be my rights
To me it is the ability to make my own choices rather than behave some planner make it for me which includes the right to obtain property exclusively for my use and use it how I please.
