The Irish Potato Famine did provide the impetus for many a Railroad Laborer to build
the 5 surveyed Transcontinental Railroads with CHEAP labor.

The 5 surveyed at the request of USA Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis
The Northern Route of which was carried out in part by George B. McClellan
and his aide de camp, Frederick W. Lander

The articles given align with the Civil War as a impetus. I am implying that the Potato famine argument does not resonate as how diversity is looked upon today.

...align with the Civil War as a impetus?
Strange, that these surveys happened 7-8 years prior to any talk of secession, let alone Fort Sumter.

The 5th route was the North South route from San Diego to Seattle, connecting the other 4 at various latitudes along the Left Coast.

Would some people involved prefer to use different sources as the primary source of Labor ?
-Irish Labor
-Chinese Labor
-Slave Labor

Which of these 3 groups was more likely to populate the west, after these railroads were functional ?

What would be a more cost effective Labor supply to build these rail lines ?

So here is a simple question for you: what came first slavery or the railroad? Right.

The beginning of labor movements as well

Labor Movements timing is sweet... right after Marx wrote Lincoln, through Adams

You should really do as Nola recommended and speak to a POC with this argument before commenting anymore, here or anywhere that matters.

Glad someone has appointed oneself a spokesperson for others,
making speech bound to ones whims and parameters.

What UrbanDwellersAlmanacc is trying to say even though people of color are the faces of today's DEI they should thank the white man.... LOL

Still talking. I bet you are great at parties.

Great point.
When you're the subject of the conversation, the pronouns all blush

Where did he say that?

Although back then you do have the beginning of demonstrations, marches, even riots... the beginning of labor unions...

So you may be (albeit unintentionally) on to something there.

And there it is...... no need to speak further.

More dodging.
0 ups, 4d
Nah, you basically said we should all thank the white man by stating "Although back then you do have the beginning of demonstrations, marches, even riots... the beginning of labor unions..." And I was telling you to "say less" so you won't fall into that stereotype. But you went ahead face first falling into it...SMH

You are really missing the point here arent you?
0 ups, 5d
What is the point in pointing out that others are missing the point ?
Or, is that your myopic point ?

I double dog dare you to go into an African american thread on reddit. And post this with your point that the famine and immigration of the Irish in the mid 1860s is the reason for diversity in america today...LOL Pretty sure the slave trade will be brought up several times.

Dude went back in history to add himself in a discussion about diversity TODAY. One that has nothing to do with either him or the Irish. Neither will be denied a job for having an ethnically related name.

More deflection.

History? Today isn't then?

I am saying that no one looks at someone who is Irish as part of the current discussion of DEI. Only POC are thought of when it comes to Diversity discussions nowadays.
0 ups, 6d
Correct, because everyone is of color.

Now let's see if the one I asked that question to yesterday finally replies to it. And I mean reply reply, not dodge..
1 up, 7d
I think he was speaking to me (so thank you), but I could not have said it better.
1 up, 6d
So why did you bring it up?
0 ups, 6d,

1. Alt? LOL okayyyyyyyyyyyyy. 2. "What was happening in the 19th century isn't exactly something that Trump cut yesterday..." Exactly so why are you rehashing that point?

And yet again more deflection.
0 ups, 4d
LOL and you still did not answer the question. Deflection def: "When someone is deflecting, they are essentially avoiding a direct answer or taking responsibility for something by shifting the focus or blame onto someone or something else. This can involve changing the subject, asking a counter-question, or even becoming defensive. Deflection is often used as a psychological defense mechanism to protect oneself from uncomfortable emotions or consequences." ie: Modda
