Increased the size of government, and put it on a spending spree trying to bring the lesser developed South and Southwest out of the Third World. Imagine, no shoes, no electricity, no concrete, no streets, and no business bigger than the local grocers and sundries,,,

What was done by FDR worked;
yet neither sheme was all that great an idea for individual people.

FDR sold most his schemes to the people as TEMPORARY solutions, not permanent Bureaucracy.
