About 35 years ago I was vice president of an economic development group in western Colorado. Foster Farms met with us several times regarding their desire to build a series of isolated chicken farms to provide replacement stock if disease were to hit in their areas of primary operations. The farms were built to be pathogen free at distances from each farm where disease spread was impossible. At the time we were one of the only places in the US with no commercial poultry facilities, more than adequate distance between farms, and readily available locally grown feed.
When the Biden Administration went on their Asian Bird... whoops I mean politically correct Avian Bird Flu killing spree, the USDA declared one possible case of Bird Flu and ordered every chicken in the dozen or so different farms destroyed. Possible case. Funny, China had bird flu years ago that was going to kill us all, and then it hit the US after COVID. From China.
