Landlords not only provide a house that they paid for β either to build, bought or perhaps inherited. They have to pay a property tax on it each year, pay to insure it, and pay to fix anything wrong with it, all while not living there themselves. It is not wrong for them to receive something for what they invested in it. A CEO may not actually make a product or ship it somewhere, but his job is to manage the company, providing oversight and direction to employees while being accountable to shareholders. They actually are among the hardest workers, since they are not paid by the hour and may work as many as seventy hours per week easily.
