They're not earning any respect by doing this. The conservative parents are dead-set against it, the kids (hopefully) don't see the value in it and wish they were doing other things, and everyone else just sees it as an unnecessary intrusion.

From what I've been hearing this newer generation (Gen alpha) is a lot more conservative then Gen z and millennials.
