The whole story is fake and scripted for television, from the initial security cam footage released of him conveniently in view with outstretched arm/pointed gun and victim...to this footage/photo op of him in the classic cringe orange jumpsuit being transferred from holding to courthouse.

I've been to prison (not something I'm proud of) but when you are transferred from holding cell to court, it's done in the confinement of one building/underground. If you are state transferred, you are not chauffeured around in an orange jumpsuit for the public eye and camera photo ops.
