You have the option of selecting viewing Hot or New. Hot is by popularity - a combination of upvotes, views, comment activity. Downvotes also affect memes, sending them back down the line.

I dont know if everybody knows that tho, so when they view memes on mine they get a distant lack of political memes, because the squad is out downvoting like crazy.

There's also an option to search for memes from just one stream on somebody's profile, as long as you follow that same stream as well.
