Why would a Christian be unfamiliar with the Crucifixion

Pontius Pilate letting the crowd free *Barabbas* and condemn Jesus is the first of the fourteen Stages of the Cross
0 ups, 2w,
1 reply
No. The first stage is "Jesus is condemned." It is not "Barabbas is set free"... The prayer that accompanies the first station has nothing to do with Barabbas.

My point is that Jesus's trial is part of the Crucifixion

So, just so we're clear, you're equating Kamala Harris with Jesus?
2 ups, 2w,
1 reply
No. This isn't about Harris. This is about anyone who voted for Trump. I'm equating the American Christians who voted for Trump with the crowd who demanded Pilate free Barabbas, a liar, thief, insurrectionist, and murderer.

When given a choice, the crowd picked a man of lies and violence.

Whose policies are far more closely aligned with Christian values than those of his opponent

You sincerely think that there is ANYTHING Christ-like about Trump's policies?

Yes. Although Trump has said he would veto a federal ban on abortion, a politically neutral stance on the issue is far preferable to the pro-abortion stance offered by Kamala

What's Trump's policy on migrants? Legal or Illegal?

What was Jesus's commandment on migrants? Legal or Illegal?

Feeding the poor?

How about healing the sick?

You're going to have to elaborate on the first two. As for the third point, you can't legislate charity. And I don't know what you mean by the fourth.
On any of those four you could argue about doctrine one way or the other, but there's no way to interpret the Bible in a way that justifies Kamala's stance on abortion
1 up, 2w,

Sounds like a dodge, but I'll clarify, because this isn't "interpretation". It's a clear reading. No "well, this is what he really meant..."

Trump wants to deport all illegal migrants, end naturalization for some groups (and deport them), and end birthright citizenship.

Christ said things like: Matthew 25:35. Hebrews 13:1-3.

Trump's plan on feeding the hungry? He wants to end the SNAP program.

Christ said: Matthew 25:35-37

Healing the sick?

Trump is going to end the ACA. He ran a charity that was supposed to give money to kid's cancer research, except he used it as a personal piggy bank. He never once gave that money out to cancer research.

Christ in Mathew 10 directly commanded his desciples to go forth and heal the sick and to accept no payment or reward for it.

Christ said Matthew 5:43–44
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"

Trump said, "I am your retribution."

There is nothing Christ-like nor Christian about Trump.

Show me the passage in the Bible that justifies Kamala's stance on abortion

Christ does not mention abortion. At all.

As we lack any direct guidance from Jesus, let's look at the old testiment. Exodus 21 verse 22 the penalty for causing a pregnant woman to miscarry is a fee.

So, there is no biblical stance on abortion beyond someone pays a fine.

Are you forgetting the part about mankind being made in the image of God? Or even just "Thou shalt not kill"?
0 ups, 2w
Can't legislate charity? again, absurd. How many charitable programs does the government fund? Good grief. Are you aware of anything beyond your doorstep?
0 ups, 2w,
1 reply
Am I forgetting that? No. Being made in image of God isn't particularly meaningful. It's an explanation on why humans look the way we look. Gensis 1:27 contains nothing in the way of a command or instruction.

But 'thou shalt not kill'?

Let's look at God's record on murder/killing and what he told Israelites to do.

The plagues in Egypt, but specifically the first born of every family In Egypt? That's a genocide. Of babies. Who were already born. Why would a god who killed the first born of every family in Egypt care about abortion?

The army pursuing Moses and the Israelites? Why are they exempt from the rule?

Sodom and Gamorah? 2 whole cities wiped out.

What about the great flood? That was the entire planet- wiped out. Everyone dead.

But if you're thinking "well, God is the giver of life and has the authority to take it whenever he wants. The 10 commandments are for us, not him."

Okay. What about everyone living in Canaan when God promised it to the Israelites? What about the people who lived in Jericho?

They were killed. By Jewish forces.

Ezekiel and the bears? God caused bears to ramage through a village killing children because they called Ezekiel bald.

So, when it comes to "thou shalt not kill" it seems more like "keep it tto a minimum, as long as its convenient for you."

You know, it's as if you've never actually read & paid attention to what's in the Bible and you've taken other people's word on what was in it and what it meant.

Somehow, I don't think killing unborn children is the same thing as God rewarding his followers with military victory, but I could be wrong. It does, however, call to mind King Herod's order for male newborns to be killed to protect his power, or the passage in Exodus in which the Pharaoh commands the Hebrews to kill their newborn sons.

God ordered Joshua to destroy Jericho and everyone in it.

A direct order from God to enact a genocide of a city population susgests that "thou shall not kill" isn't that important.

Oh, so it's no longer "Show me in the Bible" but now it's "A pope in the 1st Century said it was bad."

So, is Harris Catholic? Is the United States a Catholic country ruled by the Pope?

No? Okay, so we don't have to follow what a 1st Century pope said. If you're Catholic, you can decide to do that, but in the United States we don't have to follow your 1st Century Religious leader's decisions.

But while we're on the subject of 1st Century Pope doctrine- what was the 1st Century Church's stance on slavery?

Then what is your stance on slavery?

'Cause I'm super confident that the 1st Century church was very okay with slavery. Given that Paul told slaves to obey their masters, and for slave owners to treat their slaves kindly. The closest the Bible gets to saying slavery is bad is in Galatians when Paul says, "you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Are you still in line with the 1st Century church when it comes to slavery?

The Catholic Church's stance on abortion is exactly the same today as it was back then. It's true that Americans in general have no obligation to vote with Catholic doctrine in mind, but Catholics do, hence my point that Catholics and faithful Christians are better off voting for Trump

Veto it, after dodging questions on whether he would, and after bragging about how he "killed Roe v. Wade."
As with the rest of his usual flip flopping, he finally said about vetoing it in order to appeal to voters.

Kamala is openly in favor of abortion, and the Biden-Harris administration has weaponized the DOJ against Pro-Life activists like Mark Houck. Call me crazy, but I think Trump's the better option.

So's Trump. Or was. Then he wasn't. Then he was sorta, depending on the audience.

Nobody weaponized the DOJ, Trump isn't in office yet.

Tell that to the father of seven who was arrested at gunpoint by a SWAT team for allegedly shoving an employee of Planned Parenthood, a charge of which he was unanimously acquitted.

I'm a Catholic, not a "Relationship Christian" (??)
No doubt you're familiar with the principle of Imago Dei, the fundamental belief that all humans are created in the image of God, and human life is inherently sacred. A belief that is irreconcilable with the Left's stance on abortion and euthanasia.

Did you know you can be Catholic and have a personal relationship with Christ? One that enriches your life and heals the conflict within? Partaking of the sacraments is so healing. The Eucharist lasts 10 days in the body. There are authentic Catholics and authentic Christians. Catholicism IS a venue of Christianity. The first pope was Peter.

I'm aware of that. It's also not related to what I said.
