Pokémon leak on 4chan originally just said Gen 10 is gonna have an MMO aspect to it, which everyone didn’t really believe because

A. Gamefreak does not have that many employees so upkeep might be difficult for them.

B. It’s Pokémon so they’re not sure it’s really going to work.

Then this Centro Leaks mf steps in. Apparently this guy is almost always right in Pokémon Leaks.

Massively Multiplayer Online, which is why a bunch of people in the Pokémon community are freaking out. Gamefreak hasn’t done anything to this scale before and while they don’t employ that many employees which is why they’re worried about upkeep.

Pokémon go doesn’t work the same way as traditional mmos. And for all we know the game isn’t actually mmo. People aren’t sure if it’s a separate game from the mainline Gen 10 games or not either, we just know there is code for a multiplayer aspect.
