That's a fair question, and one of the FAQ. I should really just make one at this point. You asked nicely so here's a fair answer. I post what I post because I enjoy posting it. That part is simple. The "porn" part is a hot mess. Imgflip is not a pornographic website. Great, so what's pornography? It doesn't say. The dictionary usually includes a sex act but at a minimum (as clarified by the imgflip gods, i.e. owners and global mods) involves exposed private parts (genitals, buttholes, developed female nipples, ejaculate and possibly pubic hair) with the intent to cause sexual arousal. Censoring these parts doesn't help because censored porn is still porn. (It's also worth noting that "porn" is only relevant when taken as shorthand for "pornography". The definition of porn that refers to sensationalized content "food porn, horror porn, etc." is very much not what TOS means when it says pornography.)

I agree that it makes no sense for me to post that type of stuff anywhere on this site. There are other sites for it. It goes against the spirit of a meme site. Caches of uncaptioned images aren't really memes anyway, although adding a few words doesn't really change things. I don't believe management should have permitted erotic content for its own sake from the get go...but they did, and now they're stuck with it. I own my role in this, but I'm a small part of the whole issue of erotic content on imgflip.

For a long time I fooled myself into thinking I was the good guy because I posted in my own streams and kept to myself, but kids still find it--thanks in large part to msmg users posting links to my stuff and telling their friends to go look at it. I also used to think that as long as "it followed the rules" it was all good and I was in the right, but anymore...tbh the biggest reason I still post these things is because stopping now will feel like admitting I was wrong. I prefer to concede that I'm not right and keep doing what I'm doing. Users in a 13+ website are old enough for pg-13 content, and that's what should be expected in NSFW memes. If they don't like it, that's fine. We all need to learn to tolerate shit we don't like. There's no such thing as the right to never be offended. Effective immediately I'm taking all my horny streams private. All of them. This is my way of acknowledging my responsibility to protect underage users. They're too young to see what I post, which means they're also too young to be held responsible for breaking the rules. Making my streams private will make it that much less likely that they stumble across one of my "memes" by mistake.

The only thing I would ask is that people refrain from posting links to memes from these streams. I don't have any control over that, but it would defeat the purpose of making it less accessible to underage users.

And as always, if you anyone genuinely feels that anything I post truly breaks TOS, flag it, submit a request for removal, whatever steps will send it before the imgflip authorities. I always abide by their rulings.
