My dad taught me how to pay my taxes. Why do you expect schools to teach everyone everything? Parents can do a better job teaching some skills than schools can. Also, if you can't do your taxes yourself, why not turn to H&R Block or.Jackson Hewitt?

It is reasonable to think that an institute of which you are legally obligated to spend your entire childhood in, should be teaching you things that you can actually apply to your adult life, instead of just teaching you things that are only applicable in said institute

If you homeschool your kids and/or send them to private schools, and enough people in the town you live in do likewise, that town could potentially throw up the white flag and eliminate their public school system completely since private schools and homeschooling parents would do a better job. Then that town could spend more time and energy on other things, such as improving infrastructure, sprucing up parks and recreational faciilities, or expanding libraries. They could also cut property tax rates by as much as sixty to seventy percent and encourage more residents and businesses to move in.
