Socialism is ii the eyes of the beholder. John Maynard Keynes called himself a Capitalist. A Socialist would not tax big business they would take over its properties, markets and functions. Socialists believe that all means of production should be controlled directly by the people. Our system is more or less Keynesian, in which the behaviors of capitalists are influenced by the government. And, just as the broader economy is made up of various sectors which act independently and in unison, as their interests dictate, the government is multi-sectored. An example of Keynesian practices is on display in how the Federal Reserve is playing with interest rates in an attempt to reduce the post-Covid inflation that ran up prices a few years ago.
I am a capitalist, and so is Kamala Harris. We live in the most successful capitalist economy in the history of economics. I suggest that you examine the record of Bernie Sanders who describes himself as a Socialist before relying on ancient labeling of subsets of capitalist behavior to create class conflict.
