When Rich people spend money on frivolous or unnecessary things, those products and services become necessary for the middle class. At the time these were invented, people demeaned them unnecessary. Examples: telephone, automobile, air conditioning, TV, air travel, home computers, cell phones, vacations, dining out, heart surgery, and many more. Even Fortune 100 CEOs don't want trump despite 2/3 leaning republican and his tax cuts benefitting them. The money saved from his tax cuts by and large went into stock buybacks though which do not really make anyone's lives better in terms of supporting middle class jobs (unless they also owned stock).

If people making over $400,000 per year have to pay another $10k per year or whatever in taxes, they'll still have thousands and thousands of dollars to dump into the stock market and whatever latest and greatest unnecessary things.

Rich people buying up newfangled toys doesn't lower the prices, why should it? What's the incentive? How many yachts, mansions, and corporations does the average person own? It isn't even because of the people camping out in front of the Best Buy for 3 Days pending the release of the latest Call of Duty game.
