The problem with this whole idea is what happens when the government becomes a proponent of an ideology/ideological position that isn't strictly classified as a religion? Does it not count until the government acknowledges it as a religion? who dictates when the threshold has been crossed? What are the parameters?
and if its a conflict of interest for the government to acknowledge its practicing a religion, it stands to reason that they wouldn't acknowledge it...so would that mean their opinion on the matter can't hold credibility? Does mine now hold more weight?
The point that Im making is that since so much of the modern world walked away from religion, most instantly replaced it with something else -- often social activism or orbiting ideologies
and if they function as religions (again whats the minimum requirements?) and the government is colluding/endorsing, then it stands to reason the government is engaging in religion right now.
