Funny that's the example you'd use, my city pays about eight million dollars per square mile. The City pays for all the beds at one shelter, but the operator has only been filling half the beds.
Oh and you'll love this, many of the social service grants given out by the City since 2020 weren't followed up on by city staff, resulting in grant recipients being unable to account for grant funding. Including the shelter I referred to above in the amount of 1.4 million dollars.

I agree with the misappropriation of funds. Or what about this, my city accepted FEMA funds for retrofitting the parking structures after the '94 earthquake. But instead of retrofitting one of the parking structures they bought properly with that money. Then they tore down the parking structure, so there is no evidence that the parking structure wasn't retrofitted, except for some newspaper articles.
