they're not crying actually. It's fed into their narrative. They're still going to vote for trump. So I sayy we vote third party.

Voting 3rd party in a Presidential race is absolutely pointless.

If you want effective 3rd parties in US politics start at the local areas and then state. Once you multiple states elections where candidates are winning, then you can move to the president.

Says the politicians. But politicians require us to vote red or blue instead of third party to semi-control the outcome. If all swing voters stopped voting red or blue it would make them change their tactic.

No, basic common sense. let's say by some miraclle a 3rd party president does get elected. Then what? It's stilll the same 2 parties in control of the house and senate. With no one in the house or the senate to help him pass legislation, nothing changes.

If you want real effective 3rd parties, that means you need to start at the state and local level. Build ground support with financing from donors and a provable record of being able to legislate and get things done.

Unless you do that? Any 3rd party vote is a "protest" vote that really just allows the system to continue exactly as it is.

no. The system relies on swing voters choosing red or blue in order for politicians to control elections by splitting a vote. If there's no swing voters, the candidates have to sway voters from the other side. OR..... they have to adopt third party values.

No, they don't have to adopt 3rd party platforms if 1 person has been elected to a 4 year seat. They just have to wait it out.

Don't think so? Just look at the career of Jessie Ventura as Governor of Minnesota. What changed with his election? Did the parties adopt any of his policies? Did anything change in either party?

Nope. They waited him out. Nothing changed. He wasn't able to pass any significant legislation because he had no support in the MN House or Senate.

Again, if you want proper 3rd party representation in the US system, elect candidates at the state level. You'll be able to build enough to get to the Federal level. Then once you have enough candidates elected to Congress, you'lll be able to get enough funding for the oval office.

Thinking that voting in a 3rd Party President and the other parties will magically start converting is a fantasy.

... That's not what I said. I said the 2 party candidates will have to adjust their strategies to compete.

No, they don't. History shows you that they don't. A 3rd party candidate was elected to governor in Minnesota. He was very popular. The 2 parties made things difficult for him. He wasn't able to pass any of his agenda. He didn't get re-elected.

Absolutely nothing changed. They made no policy changes. They didn't alter anything about their platforms.

You want real 3rd parties? Start with the legislatures.

You literally said that didn't work.

I said that voting for a 3rd party candidate for president is pointless. If you want real change, real 3rd party change, you have to start at the state and local level. Build a solid base of supporters and the ability to fund raise.

Then move up to the federal level.

Then once you have several states you can fund raise from, you'll be able to compete for the white house.

you just said that it didn't work in Minnesota.

The issue is, it wasn't designed with the intent to rely on swing voters.
