Convicted by a jury. In this country, that is how trials are decided. I wonder why the innocent person DIDNT testify? I wonder what he was hiding, or just afraid of being cross examined? Perjury?

Let’s not forget that Bill Clinton wasn’t put on trial for the $850,000 he paid in hush money to Paula Jones, or that John Edwards was let go for paying Rielle Hunter $1M. It pays to be a Democrat

Bill Clinton lied about having an affair in front of cameras. He was not impeached and I agree that he should not have been. It was a clear attempt by Republicans to use the legal system to remove a sitting President elected by the People. The legal system worked in that case.

Actually Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury regarding the matter. That means lying.
0 ups, 4w
Bill Clinton was not removed from office. He lied, but it was about a personal matter that did not endanger the country. Bill Clinton was fairly elected by the People. No legal action should be able to circumvent the will of the People. Don't you agree, Modda?

Let's not forget you've copied and pasted this same stupid, lazy, moronic lie a dozen or more times and yet never once stopped to look it up and realize how ridiculous it is.

Are you new here? You see, the colored bars tell you which post something is responding to, but since you seem confused, my response was to equestrian who keeps posting nonsense about Bill Clinton paying $850k in hush money to Paula Jones.

That was to settle her lawsuit against him, not hush money, and absolutely not a criminal act like Felon Trump's scheme to cover up his payments by falsifying business records.

Not being a lawyer, I need someone to explain why this is important. How is what Trump did a felony? it's all very complicated and seems very nuanced. Also, It has nothing to do with the OP. I was talking about authoritarian governments that jail opponents. Are you saying that's what happened to Trump?

Trump's falsification of business records became felonious because they were done specifically to influence the outcome of a state or federal election, violating NY § 17-152.

Crimes committed during the commission of other crimes regularly raises the level of violation in our system of justice - for instance destroying evidence of misdemeanor drug possession will earn you a class C felony, and if your accomplice in a burglary kills a security guard you'll both get charged with capital murder.
1 up, 4w
How did the prosecution prove Trump's intent was specifically to influence the election? That sounds both odd and trivial at the same time. How could falsifying business records influence an election? Which election, the one he lost?
1 up, 4w
CtrlFreq, I just found out exactly what Trump's crime was. Payment to Stormy Daniels categorized as a legal expense instead of a campaign expense with intent to conceal the payment. Falsifying business records was elevated to a felony because of NY 17-152. Still not sure how intent was established, but I'm looking. Details are buried very well on the Web. I found a "The Hill Rising video." "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLS1gCUWAEE" Bet you won't watch it. Bet you are too afraid.

Washington Post "President Clinton sent an $850,000 check to Paula Jones yesterday, finally closing out the sexual harassment lawsuit" Easy to find on Google. Copy and paste. There it is.

I'm not a lawyer. What is the legal definition of "hush money?" Was there anything in the agreement to not talk about the case? I think there usually is. Again, I'm not a lawyer.
0 ups, 4w
The legal definition is along the lines of money or enticements paid to remain silent about some action of the offering party.

Paula Jones' suit which Clinton paid to settle was a public filing and an open record.

That's the point - equestrian is asking why Clinton wasn't "put on trial" for settling a lawsuit.

It's so simple to look up that it took several times as much effort to ask the dumb question DOZENS of times on as many threads.
1 up, 4w
OK. Trumps lawyer paid Stormy Daniels and now he is on trial. So how is Clinton's lawyer paying Paula Jones all that different? Couldn't paying Paula Jones be considered intent to influence an election? Was Clinton up for reelection? How is that different? Is the difference just a bookkeeping error?

Are you saying ALEXEI NAVALNY was guilty? Maybe you are more familiar with the story than I am. Please tell me what I missed.

Here's a similar scenario: "CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s top prosecutor on Wednesday announced arrest warrants for the presidential campaign manager of opposition powerhouse María Corina Machado and eight other staffers, accusing them involvement in a violent anti-government conspiracy."

It is very common in authoritarian countries for those in power to arrest the opposition leaders. Iran, Cuba, China, Chile, Venezuela... Lots of examples.

Opposition leaders? In Cuba? In China? They have opposition leaders in their one party system? Really? Is that even mathematically possible?
Wait, did you say Chile? What is this, the 1970s?
Iran has hundreds of people that run in every election. For president. Haven't heard much of them getting arrested. The 'opposition leaders' you're referring to are basic ordinary college kids making a loud noise on occasion, not people running for office. At least from what I heard.

Oh, and as for Venezuela, is that the country that Trump was going to send in troops in order to help quell an opposition?

Are all trials rigged? or just those against they guy that presented FALSE ELECTORS to overturn a fair election? Are false electors legal too?

StanHalen, please organize your thoughts more clearly. I don't know what you are trying to say. What has the 2025 project got to do with suspending democracy by arresting opposition leaders? Are you referring to a case like that in the US?
2 ups, 4w,

its very common in most countries that if a person commits felonies, they are arrested, and have a trial by judge or jury.
No comment if the fake electors is legal or illegal? You must have a law degree from Chumpf University, ya know the one that was found to be a fraud, and he was fined about $25 MILLION.. Maybe your next CULT leader should have clean hands, and a dash or morals?

I don't have a law degree. I don't belong to a cult. Sorry, I triggered you somehow. The legal systems in some countries can be very corrupt. Political bias can be a problem as in Russia and many 3rd world countries. Don't you agree?

We are a country of laws. No matter who or how rich, in fact some might say the rich have an advantage to hiring the best lawyers, jury consultants, paid witnesses/experts. The accused has a right to a trial by judge or jury, the accused can testify in their own defense or not. They are bound by the rulings of the trials, of course appeals are part of the process as well. I guess you skipped 8th grade civics class.
A jury found CULT45 GUILTY of ALL charges.
If he was found not guilty, my thoughts were, i didnt hear all the evidence presented and if they found him not guilty, so be it. Dont you agree?

After Hunter's laptop suppression by the FBI, falsifying business records with intent to influence an election sounds trivial. I don't know what to believe. After lies like the Steele dossier, COVID-19 origin, and all the FBI corruption, government, and media don't have much credibility left with me. I'm not a lawyer so I can't make much sense of such a nuanced case.

What laptop suppression? Ain'tcha heard, they're going to impeach Joe Biden because Hunter had some dic pics on it. Plus the vids of him smoked grated Parmesan. He's a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad man.

Thaheck is the "Steel Dossier"?
Oh, wait, that's a euphemism for the Pee Pee Tape, right?
0 ups, 4w
FBI suppressed Hunter's laptop story. Was that election interference? Steele Dossier was paid for by Hillary Clinton. Falsely linked Trump to Russia. Was proven to be a pack of lies. Modda, you already knew this. Why are you beating a dead horse? TDS must be a bitch.

One thing is for sure if Trump is put in jail or not on the ballot or both, we could have another civil war on our hands. Trump is the leading candidate according to the polls. Everyone knows this. This could destroy the country. History is proof of that. Really doesn't matter if he is guilty or not. A conspiracy theorist would say destroying the United States was the intention all along.
0 ups, 4w
No conspiracy theorists required, Trump openly stated that he wanted to toss the USA out.

We HAD a civil war. 1/6/21. It was over in time for the MAGAts to go home to the trailer in time for mommy to nuke them their nightly Hot Pockets.

According to 720 separate polls, Trump leads Biden. By 1.5%.
720.
1.5%

Trump wanted to utilize the military to declare martial law after the election in 2020. He wanted them to seize all polling machines and have them do a 'recount' and declare him reelected.
Did you forget this?

Between December and January 2020 - 21 he wanted to quite literally nuke China and Iran in order to have an excuse to stay in office. And if that didn't work, at least leave one helluva mess way bigger than leaving Afghanistan to the Taliban for Biden to deal with.

Oh, and the MAGAts wanted to lock up the general who said he had contacted China about the possibility of a nuclear assault to assure them that it would not happen.

You remember Pinochet in the 1970s, but you don't remember what il Douche Trump did just a couple of years ago?

Trump's platform wasn't particularly big in 2016. It consisted of two chants, repeated at various rallies throughout.

Care to take a guess what they were?
One was, "Build the wall,"
the other rhymes with, "Lock her up."
0 ups, 4w
I did not vote for Trump in 2016. I will vote for Trump in November. I don't like Trump, but there is no other choice. The Establishment must be defeated somehow. Not sure Trump is up to the job. Maybe it's a start—a crack in the wall.
