135 AD in the Second Jewish Uprising against the Romans, the Jews started killing Christians and pagans, so the Romans sent in 13 legions and killed every last Jew in Judea, then renamed it Syria-Palestine. They killed every Jew in Judea. Every. Last. One. I'd say that gave them the right to name it whatever they wanted. Probably what Jesus foretold in Matthew 23 "37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord." Jesus told them their "house is left unto you desolate" and the Romans got around to making it happen. Odd how many false Christians don't understand that.
